I joined MSIG at Lloyd’s in 2011 as Portfolio Manager to underwrite European XOL, PFI, and Inwards Facultative, and am now the Class Underwriter for London Risk Managed, Package and UK and European Facultative. I began my insurance career in 1987, initially underwriting Engineering/Construction classes before moving into Global Property underwriting where I progressed to the role of Underwriting Team Leader. In 2001, after 14 years, I moved to a major European insurer, where I became the London Market Corporate Property Manager and, for 5 years, I managed a very profitable book of retail/wholesale primary and excess layer business.
I joined MSIG in March 2006 as a Construction Underwriter. I began my insurance career in 1989 at a UK composite insurer, underwriting traditional classes of engineering business such as Inspection Contracts, Machinery Breakdown and Boiler Explosion covers. In 1994 I transferred to the International head office to underwrite Erection All Risks and Machinery Breakdown Insurance on a worldwide basis. In 1997, I joined a major global reinsurer to underwrite worldwide Construction, Erection All Risks, and Machinery Breakdown, on a Direct and Facultative basis. I attained considerable experience of risk control/management surveys (as lead) representing the company as lead underwriter for specific projects in China (power station), Argentina (gas distribution) and various UK construction sites including Heathrow Terminal 5. During my time I also worked as a CAR/EAR Underwriter in Paris. I joined MSIG as it offered, and continues to offer, a good platform to continue my underwriting development in a Lloyd’s environment.
I joined MSIG as part of a team in 2011 as Class Underwriter to lead, develop and deliver the MSIG Real Estate proposition. I have over 32 years’ experience in the insurance industry working in various commercial underwriting and managerial roles. My previous role was Head of Specialist Markets for a major composite insurer.
